We are the Alpha Chapter of Sigma Omicron Pi, the first Asian American interest sorority at UC Berkeley and the first national Asian American interest sorority in the country. Thirteen chapters, ninety-six years, one sisterhood.

Who we are
A home away from home, since 1930
Our objective is to further the awareness of women in Asian culture and to promote unity, lifelong friendships, leadership, and community service.
Every sister comes to SOPi with her own major, her own goals, and her own story. What we share is the house. Your pledge sisters, your pledge mom, your big and little, sisters in other chapters across the country: these are the people who show up for you at Berkeley and long after.
Our four pillars
What we build on
We use these pillars to plan meaningful events for our sisterhood and to grow as individuals.
Friendship
Retreats, lock-ins, sleepovers, formals, the Tahoe trip, senior banquet. Sisters stay close long after college and meet up wherever they are in the world.
Leadership
From rush chair to president, every sister has the chance to hold a position, run events, and grow her leadership skills with a supportive network behind her.
Service
Each semester we choose philanthropy that serves the Asian American community, from AADP donor tabling to the Out of the Darkness Walk and local food banks.
Big & Little
Little moments, big memories
A big and little relationship is like no other. It is a lifelong bond you share with one special sister: the one who paints your name on a pillow, shows up to every milestone, and passes down the family line.
